Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

AHCTRF501 - Plan the establishment of sports turf playing surfaces

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Carry out preliminary planning activities for turf establishment

  1. Confirm client preferences and requirements for the sports turf playing surface
  2. Assess the site for biophysical factors, services and site modifications
  3. Research turf plant species and cultivars, legal attributes and local by-laws and restrictions that may affect the plan for turf establishment
  4. Identify environmental implications of the planned turf establishment works and report to personnel for further research
  5. Develop a concept plan that reflects client preferences and requirements and takes into account site factors and any identified environmental requirements and present to the client for discussion and approval
